7-Days Mount Kilimanjaro Trek – Rongai Route

Kilimanjaro

Trip Overview

The 7-day Rongai Route is the only trail that approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the northern side near the Kenyan border, offering a peaceful, remote, and scenic ascent. Known for its gentle gradient and low foot traffic, Rongai is ideal for trekkers seeking a quieter and less crowded Kilimanjaro experience.

This extended 7-day version provides an extra acclimatization day, significantly increasing your chances of reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) successfully. The trail passes through cultivated farmlands, forests, open moorlands, and high alpine desert before reaching the wide Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Summit night is via Gilman’s Point → Stella Point → Uhuru Peak, followed by a descent along the lush Marangu Route—giving you the rare chance to traverse the mountain from north to south.

Combining wilderness, scenic diversity, and excellent acclimatization, the Rongai Route is perfect for both beginners and experienced trekkers who want a steady and rewarding climb to Africa’s highest point.
